Develop a dissemination plan for the fact sheets to help focus outreach efforts to specific audiences

  • Local watershed groups
  • Subregional watershed forums
  • Resource conservation districts
  • Local government elected officials
  • Key decision makers at public agencies
  • Other non-government organizations
  • Real estate / building industry / contractors / developers / realtors (Non-traditional target)
 

Develop a flowchart showing the relationships between various agencies to help guide outreach

 

Compile draft factsheets using simple language that avoids jargon and provide easy-to-understand definitions and simple explanatory diagrams

 

Examples: Use "Neighborhood" instead of "watershed" and "Polluted urban runoff" instead of "nonpoint source pollution"

Focus short-term efforts on the first introductory sheet and allow the others to become inserts to this more general backgrounder

 


Factsheet 2: Essential Elements of Successful Riparian Ordinances  

Identify good examples of the watershed ordinances from the SF Bay Area, CA, and/or US

 


Factsheet 3: Riparian Buffers and Private Property - Protecting Your Land from Erosion, Flooding, and Degradation (working title only)  

Investigate Contra Costa projects from Urban Creeks Council for good Urban Examples

 

Investigate RCD projects and/or Defenders of Wildlife for good suburban examples

 

Investigate PRBO Conservation Science projects from Marin for good rural examples

 


Factsheet 4: Economic and Community Benefits of Riparian Buffers and Watershed Restoration  

Compile information on the beneficial economic and community impacts of riparian buffers
